High Dynamic Range (HDR) is a set of techniques that allows for a greater dynamic range of values between dark and light areas than normal digital imaging techniques. In other words, dynamic range means the photo contrast.
High Dynamic Range Imaging is commonly associated “fake” or unrealistically colorful. The real purpose of HDR photography is to produce a higher quality image than that of a normal photo (LDR). The purpose of HDR is to rise above the limitations of camera equipment.
An HDR image is created by merging several images taken at different exposures. If there are enough exposures, each part of the image has optimal exposure in several shots.
